Ontario Basketball Introduces G-Elite: The Girls Elite League in Ontario

Ontario Basketball is thrilled to announce the launch of a new competition structure for high school girls’ basketball at the club level – the G-Elite League.  The league will feature Junior (U15/U16) & Senior (U17/U19) teams.

This new league is designed to provide young female club athletes with an inclusive, exciting, safe, and competitive platform. G-Elite aims to bridge the gap between OBL-X, OBA Development League, and OSBA, elevating the standard of play and empowering young athletes to develop in their game within the club structure of OBA. With OBA’s unwavering commitment to excellence, the league seeks to develop talent and skills.

“We’re excited with the launch of G-Elite as a fantastic initiative with the potential to make a significant impact on the lives of young female athletes.  Such leagues not only provide a platform for girls to develop their basketball skills but to also promote gender equality in sports and encourage girls to pursue their passion for athletics through our OBA member club system.” – Dave Stockton, Executive Director

Key Highlights of G-Elite:

  • OBA governance
  • Insurance

“G-Elite will fill a need that we believe Ontario Basketball was previously missing. So many female athletes in our sport play at a high level, and providing them with a platform to display their talent needs to be a priority. It’s exciting to see and be a part of the growth of basketball and Ontario Basketball, especially with all of the talent coming from these young ladies.” – Kaelan ‘Rose’ Shipley, Manager of Competitions & Events
