King's 83 (5-10) def. Southwest 60 (2-12)

King’s Christian starting to hit their stride late in the season now with two recent wins while Southwest has remained near the bottom of the standings with just two wins to their name. Big throwdown for (6-3 G, 2018) Josh Massela off a careless King’s turnover but his Southwest squad began to fall behind early as King’s opened a 26-11 lead.

Southwest put in all the effort just were not rewarded by the bucket in the first but the shots started to drop to open the second frame as Southwest put on a 6-0 run. It was (6-2 G, 2019) Jaylen Passley who drilled the three at the end of an excellent press-breaking possession to put King’s back in full control up 37-19 midway through two. The length of Southwest kept them in the game though they trailed by 15 at the half down 43-28 but still within striking distance.

The zone defence by Southwest helped slow the game to a grind and force King’s to execute early in the second half as the two teams exchanged blows. King’s never let Southwest get any sort of momentum going in the third and led by 17 going into the final frame. A hard fall by King’s star (6-5 G, 2020) Luka Sakota resulted in a stoppage of play and his exit. King’s bench continued the strong play through the stretch run of the game and finished with the 83-60 home victory.
