Orangeville Prep easily disposes of Lincoln Prep in OSBA Game of the Week #2

Lincoln began the game hanging in tough with Orangeville Prep, in the second of a double-header of OSBA Games of the Week, trailing only by one late in the first on some good work by both 6’0” guard Blake Anderson (Class of 2018) scoring 9 and 6’5” guard Tyler Sagl (Class of 2019) pouring in 7 in the quarter. Orangeville Prep got its usual contributions from its usual cast of characters as 6’8” guard/forward Ignas Brazdeikis (Class of 2018) put up 16 first quarter points, and he was helped out by fresh commit to the University of Toledo 6’5” guard Keshaun Saunders (Class of 2019) who put in 4 points in the frame, as Orangeville Prep led 27-20 after the first quarter.

The Bears of Orangeville Prep continued to flex their muscles early in the second quarter, as they got outstanding play from their two starting guards Saunders and 6’2” Junior Farquhar (Class of 2018). Farquhar had a big quarter for The Bears picking up a pair of three pointers as Orangeville Prep began to slowly run away with it. Lincoln held as tight as they could in the quarter with continued contributions from Sagl and Anderson, however Orangeville Prep held a 53-36 lead at halftime led by 23 points from Brazdeikis.

It was a slow start to the third quarter, as it took both teams almost 3 minutes to score in the beginning of the frame. Sagl continued to be the aggressor offensively for the Huskies, taking over the team lead in scoring for the game with some aggressive drives to the basket for Lincoln. Orangeville Prep began to work the ball inside more frequently to exploit mismatches down low, as 6’10” center/forward Joe Jones (Class of 2018) poured in 6 points in the quarter, along with 10 more from Brazdeikis. Towards the end of the quarter, Saunders went on a 7-0 run by himself celebrating his new commitment to play Division 1 next year, as Orangeville Prep took a commanding 82-51 lead into the 4th quarter.

Lincoln began the fourth quarter with a nice 7-0 run, trying to cut into the gigantic Orangeville Prep lead. Sagl continued, as he had all game long, to throw up shots from just about anywhere to show off his in-the-gym range, as he was clearly the highlight of the game for Lincoln Prep, carrying the offence throughout. Saunders continued his big night, along with 6 fourth quarter points from 6’6” forward Matthew-Alexandre Moncrieffe (Class of 2020). In the end, most of the fourth quarter felt like simply just going through the motions, as Orangeville Prep moved to 10-1 on the season with a 97-77 victory over Lincoln Prep.
