WHITBY, ON - The 2017-18 OSBA Women’s season is quickly approaching, as teams are making last minute adjustments in preparation for the league’s highly anticipated second season. The offseason has been a busy one for all teams, with coaches and players alike doing everything they can to build upon last seasons’ successes.
The new campaign will kick off on October 11th with Durham Elite hosting Bill Crothers S.S. –two teams who spent the off months developing their players and improving their rosters for a stronger playoff run.
The regular season will consist of each team playing 18 games; a home and away against each other. The season will carry on until the end of February, with a few notable matchups including a rematch of last years OSBA Women’s final Lincoln Prep and TRC on December 12th, 2017 and January 18th, 2018.
Defending champions, Lincoln Prep are set to open their season on October 17th at home against new comers – Vaughan S.S. October 17th This will be a special night for the women of Lincoln Prep as they will be raising their 2016-17 OSBA championship banner before the game.
The University of Connecticut Huskies women’s team is set to play a homecoming game for Hamilton, ON native senior (6’0 G) Kia Nurse at Ryerson University’s Mattamy Athletic Centre on December 22nd. OSBA will participate in that special event with two games scheduled to take place earlier that day: Durham Elite vs. Bill Crothers S.S., and defending champs Lincoln Prep vs. King’s Christian Collegiate who finished last season with the league’s best record.
This season for the OSBA Women’s division will be even more exciting then the last, as the league has welcomed new players and teams to enhance the field making for a very competitive season. Early favorites include Lincoln Prep, TRC Academy and King’s Christian Collegiate, although anything is possible for the teams playing in the 2017-18 season.
