OSBA SEASON PREVIEW: RISE PREP

OSBA Pre-Season Preview: RISE PREP

RISE Prep, a second team running through TRC Academy in Brantford, is looking to make a big impact in their debut season in the Ontario Scholastic Basketball Association (OSBA).  Jeremie Kayeye, head coach of both RISE Prep and TRC Academy women’s team last season, will focus on coaching the boys’ program this year. “We at RISE Prep are very excited and appreciative of the opportunity that the OSBA has given us. We look forward to competing against the some of the best prep teams in Canada,” Kayeye commented.

Last season, RISE Prep spent a great deal of time travelling both north and south of the border. The team participated in competitive exhibition games as well as Canadian and American tournaments in which they were able to show that they could compete with some of the best prep teams in both countries.

Gearing up for their debut in the OSBA, RISE Prep had a busy off season, adding an array of size, skill and talent from well-respected programs in both Canada and the United States. Despite the loss of RISE Prep’s key guard Mason Middaugh (6’6 G/F), who is currently playing in his rookie season at Acadia University, the team added numerous key players to help them compete in the OSBA. Notable key additions include stretch bigman Brandon Kenyon (6’10 F/C, Florida), defensive-minded Rahmir Moore (6’5 G, Philadelphia), sharp-shooter Thomas Chilton (6’7 G/F, Orangeville Prep), and CIA Bounce affiliate John Akende (6’1 G, Father Henry Carr). These new additions will fill the void at the wing position and add depth to their front court this season. Dragan Stajic (6’2 G), will provide steady leadership at the point.

With strong intentions of having a break-out rookie season in the OSBA, RISE Prep aims to earn the respect from their peers this year. With a strong and revamped roster, the future looks very bright for RISE Prep as they hope to prove that they are ready to compete with the best and that they are here to stay!
