Following the successful inaugural season of the Ontario Scholastic Basketball Association (OSBA) women’s league, OSBA is pleased to announce the addition of three new women’s programs for the 2017-18 season:

Gord Everett, assistant coach of the provincial development team, will step into the head coach role for Caledon Basketball Academy.

"Caledon Basketball Academy is excited and honoured to join the OSBA and to work alongside a tremendous group of coaches and support teams in providing a high-level experience for student-athletes. We look forward to contributing to the league's growth and to elite women's basketball in Ontario," Everett remarked.

Provincial team head coach, Fabienne Blizzard, will lead the Capital Courts program.

"Player development is the pillar Capital Courts has stood on for many years, and Capital Courts Training Centre has been the training ground for many of the athletes who will make up our final roster. We are excited to showcase our commitment to player development via the top high school league in the country," said Blizzard.

Handel Kipp, who led the Oakwood Barons senior girls to City Champion titles in 2015 and 2016, will head up Vaughan Prep.

Gus Gymnopoulos, Director of Basketball Operations at Vaughan Prep, commented, "Vaughan Prep is thankful and very excited to be able to field an elite-level girls’ program in the GTA. We are looking forward to working with all other OSBA member schools to help drive girls’ basketball in the province."

Caledon Basketball Academy, Capital Courts and Vaughan Prep will join returning teams Bill Crothers (Markham), Durham Elite (Durham Region), King’s Christian College (Oakville), Lincoln Prep (Hamilton), Louis Riel (Ottawa), Southwest Academy (London), and TRC Academy (Brantford).

The next season will kick off in Fall 2017.
