OSBA Week Review - Week 17 (Mar 4-10)

Men’s OSBA

It was an exciting week on the men’s side as TRC Academy (13-2) inched out Vaughan S.S. (3-12) 91-90 thanks to O’Shane Taylor-Douglas’s 28 points. In a game that no one saw coming, Southwest Academy (7-13) pulled off the upset in defeating Bill Crothers S.S. (11-3) thanks to a trio of players scoring over 20 points - Dakelle Brooks (28), Xavier Ochu (27) and Stefan Jovcic (20). Continue reading below for a recap of this week’s action.

 

Father Henry Carr (68) @ Orangeville Prep (97) Tuesday March 7th, 2017

  • Father Henry Carr: Mychael Paulo 25 points, Anthony Mcnish, 11 points
  • Orangeville Prep: Aaryn Rai 27 points, Keshaun Saunders 24 points, and Ignas Brazdeikis 21 points.
  • Orangeville (14-1) still holding solid in first place while Father Henry Carr (5-12) sits in 9th

King’s Christian Collegiate (68) @ Bill Crothers S.S. (82) Tuesday March 7th, 2017

  • King’s Christian: Luka Sakota 16 points, Robert Mannela 11 points, Coleman Stucke 10 points
  • Bill Crothers S.S: Jayden Coke 20 points, Stefan Smith 14 points, Jacob Fraser 13 points.
  • With the loss King’s Christian Collegiate (0-15) is still sitting in last place while Bill Crother’s S.S. (11-2) hangs in 4th.

Lincoln Prep (70) @ TRC Academy (81) Wednesday March 8th, 2017 (Game of the week)

  • Lincoln Prep: Sam Jenkins 13 points, Kevin Kangu 14 points, Tafari Sims 12 points, Cullen Welsford 12 points
  • TRC Academy: Eliel Nsoseme 12 points, Steven Levnaic 20 points, Adam Francolini 12 points
  • Lincoln Prep (7-10) stays in 6th while TRC is sitting pretty in 3rd place

Bill Crothers S.S. (95) @ Southwest Academy (102) Thursday March 9th, 2017

  • Bill Crothers S.S: Stefan Smith 26 points, Juwan Beckford 18 points, Jacob Fraser 16 points
  • Southwest Academy: Dakelle Brooks 28 points, Xavier Ochu 27 points, Stefan Jovcic 20 points
  • With the loss Bill Crothers S.S. (11-3) still sits in 3rd while this brings Southwest (7-13) closer to moving out of the 8th spot.

TRC Academy (91) vs Vaughan S.S. (90) Thursday March 9th, 2017

  • TRC Academy: Adong Makuoi 20 points, Eliel Nsoseme 17 points, Antoine Vernon 11 points, Dakoda Lewis 11 points
  • Vaughan S.S: O’Shane Taylor-Douglas 28, Wazir Latiff 19 points, James Canlas 17 points
  • TRC Academy (13-2) holds onto 3rd spot in the standings; Vaughan S.S. (3-12) in 10th.

Father Henry Carr (82) vs Lincoln Prep (94) Thursday March 9th, 2017

  • Father Henry Carr: Mychael Paulo 23 points, Denier Campbell 19 points, Anthony Mcnish 17 points, Clythus Griffith 11 points
  • Lincoln Prep: Tafari Simms 23 points, Kevin Kangu 16 points, Samuel Jenks 15 points, Adnan Begovic 12 points
  • Father Henry Carr (5-13) continues to dwell in 9th place while Lincoln Prep (8-10) chases that .500 mark as they currently sit in 6th.

 

Women’s OSBA

Another week, another win for King’s Christian as they increase their lead atop the standings thanks to a stellar performance from Laeticia Amihere who dropped 31 points in their win over Bill Crothers S.S. In another close game Louis-Riel was able to squeeze by Guelph Prep thanks to Taylor Featherstone’s 25 points. See below for a recap of this week’s action:

  • King’s Christian Collegiate top performers: Laeticia Amihiere 31 points, Christina Morra 16 points
  • Bill Crother’s S.S. top performers: Leyki Sorra 16 points, Justina King 12 points
  • King’s Christian Collegiate (12-2) stays atop the standings; Bill Crother’s S.S. (7-6) falls to 5th. 

Lincoln Prep (51) @ TRC Academy (60) Wednesday March 8th, 2017 (Game of the week)

  • Lincoln Prep top performers: Hanna Hall 18 points, Kaillie Hall 10 points
  • TRC Academy top performers: Makayla Ennis 14 points, Taya Hanson 12 points
  • TRC (10-4) takes sole possession of 2nd place while Lincoln Prep (8-5) stays pat in 3rd place.

Louis-Riel (63) @ Guelph Prep (59) Thursday March 9th, 2017

  • Louis-Riel top performers: Taylor Featherstone 25 points, Bilan Khadar 13 points, Naziah Charles 11 points
  • Guelph Prep top performers: Mya Iriah 16 points, Shanese Miller 12 points, Naomi Ganpo 12 points
  • With the loss Guelph Prep (1-10) stays in 7th; Louis-Riel (2-12) in 8th

Bill Crothers S.S. (73) @ Southwest Academy (60) Thursday March 9th, 2017

  • Bill Crothers S.S. top performers: Justina King 14 points
  • Southwest Academy top performers: Laurin Moro 16 points, Maggie Denys 15 points, Emma Gentile 15 points
  • Although they sit 5th and 6th in the standings, respectively their records tell a different story. The win pads Bill Crothers S.S. (8-6) win total while Southwest is trying to climb out from the bottom of the pack.
