Kings Christian Collegiate, located in Oakville, has decided to join the Ontario Scholastic Basketball Association for their first year. Head Coach, Zelimir Stevanovic, tells Ontario Basketball that the decision was made based on pursuing excellence for their athletes.

“At Kings Christian, we encourage all students to pursue excellence for the Glory of God,” says Stevanovic, “We felt that the OSBA would allow our players to be challenged at a higher degree, and that the structure of the league and season would allow for a greater team and individual development.”

Last year, during KCC’s regular season they had a lot of younger players on the team. With three of the top six players being in grades nine and 10, the KCC boys were still getting use to each other. It wasn’t until the second half of their season that the team came together, ending the season on a good note.

This year, Stevanovic wants to continue to challenge his boys and the program with OSBA’s help. Looking forward to playing amongst the best of the best within the province, Stevanovic has some star players on his team. Luka Sakota, who played with Team Ontario at the 2016 National Championships, will be playing for KCC. The 15-year-old guard has a high basketball IQ mixed with outstanding shooting skills, “Look for Luka to lead this team by example,” says Stevanovic.

Kobe Antwi is another freshman looking to make his mark with KCC. Coach Stevanovic tells us, “Antwi’s strength and athleticism gives him the ability to finish around the rim and also create room to shoot from both mid range and outside the three-point line.”

Lastly,Coleman Stucke, has a high understanding of the game compacted with an amazing shooting ability making him one to watch out for. Stuckes length and ability to create good passes are sure to be intimidating on the court.

The KC program is committed first and foremost to the development of young athletes as they figure out what God’s plan is for them. Secondly, KCC is committed to developing basketball players. That being said, the KCC program believes that their involvement with the OSBA will follow through with their goals and see themselves participating in OSBA for the long run.
