This week’s GOTW action featured two exciting games featuring teams from both the Men’s East and West divisions. Royal Crown started the week off with a dominant win over East Division rival Crestwood Prep, further securing their spot as a No. 1 seed in the standings.
Royal Crown kicked off the Game of the Week schedule with a commanding 89-73 win over Crestwood Prep. Crestwood got off to a hot start, but was unable to maintain it’s momentum once Crown started consistently getting to the basket. Royal Crown built continued to build a lead into the second half that Crestwood ultimately couldn’t overcome.
Royal Crown is now riding a three-game winning streak, with its offence averaging 81.6 points per game during that span. The team remains ranked No. 1 in the East Division and is firmly a championship favourite as the playoffs approach. Crestwood struggled to maintain consistency on both offence and defence; something that will become crucial in post-season play.
Ridley College closed out the GOTW schedule with a road win over William Academy, which was celebrating Senior Night. Both teams started sluggishly on offence, with William Academyholding a narrow 35–34 lead at halftime. An explosive third quarter from Ridley proved to be the difference, as the Tigers surged ahead 62–53 heading into the fourth. Ridley kept up the pressure, extending its lead to as much as 20 points—a gap William Academy couldn’t overcome.
The Tigers are gaining momentum heading into the play-offs and are emerging as a strong contender for a championship run. William Academy had a chance to overtake Crestwood for second place in the division with a win but now faces a tougher path in the play-offs. The Vikings remain a threat to shake things up in the postseason but will need to refine their play to make a deep run.
