This week’s GOTW action was packed with exciting games across both Men’s divisions. William Academy and Royal Crown stayed atop the Men’s East Division, while Bond Academy won a decisive game to retain their No. 1 ranking in the Trillium Men’s Division.
William Academy had a dominating 85-65 win over Bill Crothers S.S which had an immediate impact on the East Division standings. The victory pushed William Academy above .500 and pass Bill Crothers into second place in the division. In Efeosa Oliogu’s first game after committing to Butler University, he stood out with 21 points in the winning efforts.
William Academy continues to find their rhythm, with back-to-back wins over Lincoln Prep and now Bill Crothers S.S. Their best players continue to shine on offence as the team has scored over 80 points in both of those winning efforts. The team faces Crestwood Prep before a huge matchup against the No. 1 Royal Crown Lions on January 29th.
Bill Crothers S.S is now ranked No. 3 in the East, has no time to dwell on the loss. The Colts face the No. 1 team in the West Division, Ridley College, in their next game.
Royal Crown continued its undefeated streak with a hard-fought 79-73 victory over Lincoln Prep. Lincoln Prep led at halftime and looked poised for an upset, but Royal Crown’s ability to make in-game adjustments proved to be the deciding factor.
Royal Crown, now 7-0 and ranked No. 1 in the East, has maintained its status as a championship favourite and is still on the hunt for a three-peat. Lincoln Prep remains in the top four of the West Division and continues to be a tough matchup despite its 2-5 record.
In a battle between the two top seeds in the East Division, Bond Academy won in dominating fashion, defeating Full Circle Basketball Academy (FCBA) 110-88. Full Circle had the opportunity to overtake No. 1 in the division with a win, but Bond’s offence got out to a hot start and never looked back en route to another victory.
Bond Academy’s Marques Dasilva-Romeo reflected on his team’s ability to contain FCBA, saying, “We understood that, especially against a team like that, we can’t give them extra possessions… we were able to take those possessions and get our own back”.
Bond, now 12-1 and ranked No. 1 in the East, continues to demonstrate why they are such a dangerous team to play against. FCBA, with a 9-3 record, remains a strong play-off contender despite the loss.
Stay tuned for this week’s upcoming OSBA Games of the Week, which features multiple exciting matchups across both the Men’s and Women’s divisions! Fans and supporters are encouraged to tune in to OSBA TV on YouTube to catch all the action live.
