This week the OSBA presents three exciting matchups featuring leaders across the Men’s divisions. Following star-player Efeosa Oliogu’s commitment to Butler University yesterday, William Academy is set to face off against no. 2 Bill Crothers S.S in this week’s first Game of the Week (GOTW) matchup. Adding to the night’s action is an East and West division meeting between the Lincoln Prep Huskies (2-4) and the undefeated Royal Crown Lions. This week’s GOTW schedule wraps up with a battle for the top of the Trillium East Division between Bond Academy and Full Circle Basketball Academy (FCBA), who are ranked no. 1 and No. 2, respectively.
Bill Crothers enters the game at 4-3, holding the No. 2 spot in the East. Their offence is led by Jacob McGregor, the league’s top scorer and MVP frontrunner, averaging 30.1 points, 3.4 rebounds, 2.0 assists, and 2.1 steals. McGregor is a high-volume shooter with a 44% success rate from beyond the arc.
William Academy is coming into this matchup with a 3-3 record, ranked No.3 behind their opponents Bill Crothers S.S. All eyes will be on Efeosa Oliogu, a 6’6” small forward and recent Butler University commit. Ranked No. 4 on the OSBA MVP watch list, Oliogu is averaging 22.3 points, 8.5 rebounds, 3.3 steals and 3.0 assists this season. His ability to dominate in transition and on defence makes him a key player for William Academy.
Tonight’s game promises a key matchup between Oliogu and McGregor, two of the league’s leading scorers who are in contention for this year’s OSBA Men’s MVP title.
Currently ranked No. 4 in the West, the Lincoln Prep Huskies are looking to upset the top-seeded Royal Crown Lions on the road. The Huskies have leaned on Owen Frayne for offence, as the point guard leads the league in assists with 7.8 per game. Coming off a tough 99-92 loss against Hodan Nalayeh S.S last week, Lincoln Prep has an opportunity for redemption against an undefeated Crown team.
The Lions enter tonight’s matchup undefeated, boasting a 6-0 record that places them firmly at the top of the East Division. Justus Haseley has been efficient on both ends of the floor as the No. 8 leading scorer in the league, while also providing key leadership drawn from National-level experience. Crown’s current success comes as no surprise, the program has secured 19 league championships to date.
Frayne’s playmaking will be put to the test tonight against Royal Crown’s defensive versatility. Will the Huskies be able to pull through with the upset, or will Crown stay undefeated and move to 7-0?
Bond Academy stands at the top of the Trillium Men’s East Division, holding a 9-1 record ahead of Thursday Night’s matchup in Pickering. Marques Dasilva-Romeo has garnered significant attention as the leading scorer in the Trillum division, averaging 27.8 points per game. Dasilva-Romeo also contributes an average of 6.0 rebounds and 3.0 steals per game, all of which has landed him as the current No. 1 in the OSBA MVP watch list.
FCBA is looking to dethrone Bond Academy from the top spot in the division, as they enter this game with a 9-2 record and are currently ranked No. 2 in the East behind Bond. Led by Team Ontario’s Kenyon St. Louis and teammate Elijah Ali-Smith, who recently combined for a 50-point game, the Wolves have a powerful offensive frontcourt. St. Louis is currently the No. 2 leading scorer in the league, averaging 24.5 points per game, while Ali-Smith has provided additional support from beyond the arc.
Thursday’s game is a key matchup for both teams who are vying for the top spot in the Trillium Men’s East Division. With the No. 1 and No. 2 leading scorers facing off against one another, expect plenty of points in Pickering.
These GOTW promise for exciting matchups across the Men’s Divisions as league leaders battle for playoff contention. Fans and supporters are encouraged to tune in to OSBA TV on YouTube to catch all the action live.
