The OSBA Game of the Week ended the year on a thrilling note as Father Henry Carr (FHC) edged out Victory Academy in an overtime battle that had fans out of their seats. Victory Academy’s Zohar Dhaliwal forced overtime with a clutch three-pointer, but FHC rallied with the extra time to secure the win.

Top Performers: 

• Father Henry Carr (FHC): Delivering another standout performance Adrian Aquino was the leading scorer with 24 points, making key plays down the stretch Kanan Christmas contributed 18, and J. Kaden Jonas chipped in with 13, providing crucial support. 
• Victory Academy: Tristan Spencer paced his team with 17 points, keeping Victory competitive throughout, Zohar Dhaliwal added 16, including the game-tying three-pointer to force overtime and Tyrus Tyghter scored 13, showcasing his consistency on both ends. 

Team Records and Rankings: 

• Father Henry Carr (FHC) who entered the game 2-4, ranked No.7, improves to 3-4, climbing to No. 6 in the Trillium West Division standings.
• Victory Academy entered 2-4, ranked No. 8 and falls to 2-5, remaining at No. 8 in the division.  

The energy in the gym was electric as Victory Academy fans rallied behind their team, hoping to “defend their den.” The crowd went crazy after Dhaliwal’s buzzer-beater, but FHC silenced the home fans dominating in overtime.  

Pre-game, FHC Head Coach Paul Melnik stressed the importance of limiting turnovers, making free throws, and boxing out on every possession to give his team the best chance of winning. Stating that “nothing guarantees a win, but focusing on the basics puts us in a better position to succeed.” While FHC struggled at times to execute these fundamentals, they ultimately showed grit and determination to secure the victory.  

Upcoming Action 

With the holiday break now underway, both teams will look to regroup for the second half of the season. FHC aims to build on this momentum as they push for a playoff spot, while Victory Academy seeks to climb back into contention.
