Last week’s GOTW action brought exciting match ups across all divisions, highlighted by dominant wins and standout individual performances. Full Circle Basketball Academy and Orangeville Prep solidified their positions with key victories, while Royal Crown maintained their No. 1 ranking with a decisive win over William Academy. With the season heating up, every game is shaping the race for the top spot in the league.

Full Circle Basketball Academy (FCBA) vs.
James Cardinal McGuigan (JCM) 

Date: Tuesday, November 26, 2024
Division: Men’s Trillium East
Final Score: FCBA 89, JCM 63 

In an exciting Trillium Division matchup, Full Circle Basketball Academy (FCBA) showed why they are one of the top-ranked teams in the east, cruising to an 89-63 victory over James Cardinal McGuigan (JCM).

Top Performers: 

  • FCBA: Isaiah Coscarella-Knight dominated offensively, scoring 32 points, and shooting exceptionally well from three. He was supported by Team Ontario’s Kenyon St. Louis, who added 18 points and made key contributions on both ends of the floor. 
  • JCM: Jesiah Acquah led the home team with 18 points, while William Tkerchain and Jahreese Greene chipped in with 12 and 10 points, respectively. 

    Team Records & Rankings: 

     
  • FCBA entered the game ranked No. 3 with a 5-1 record. This win elevates them to 7-1 and a No. 2 ranking in the East, just behind Bond Academy. 
  • JCM, ranked No. 5 before this game, drops to 4-4 and falls to No. 6 in the East.

    Orangeville Prep vs. Lincoln Prep

Date: Wednesday, November 27, 2024 
Division: Women’s West 
Final Score: Orangeville 71, Lincoln 53

Orangeville Prep continued to solidify their place in the Women’s West Division with a commanding 71-53 win over Lincoln Prep. 

Top Performers: 

  • Orangeville Prep: Katie Firth led the way with 17 points, continuing with strong leadership. Cameron McMaster added 16 points, helping Orangeville climb the standings. 
  • Lincoln Prep: Mag Claire Kome Epule had a standout performance with 21 points, but her efforts were not enough. Returning from injury, Mira Tang added 8 points for Lincoln.

    Team Records & Rankings: 

     
  • Orangeville improves to 3-2, maintaining their No. 3 spot in the West and positioning themselves for a strong playoff push. 
  • Lincoln Prep is now 1-3 and remains at No. 6 in the division.
     

    Royal Crown vs. William Academy (Marquee Game)

    Date: Thursday, November 28, 2024
    Division: Men’s East 
    Final Score: Crown 96, William Academy 76 

    Royal Crown defended their home court with a dominant 96-76 win in the week’s marquee game, showcasing their depth and talent. William Academy had a strong third-quarter run, but Royal Crown’s dominance in the fourth sealed the victory. Crown’s depth proved too much for William Academy’s backcourt duo of Oliogu and Darko.

    Top Performers: 

  • Royal Crown: Xavier Istomin-Monroe led the charge with 18 points, while Kymani Walters and Justus Haseley added 15 and 14 points, respectively. 
  • William Academy: Efeosa Oliogu put on a show with 31 points, highlighted by several high-flying dunks. Tristan Darko contributed 15 points, but their combined effort was not enough to overcome Crown’s balanced attack. 

    Team Records & Rankings:
     
  • Royal Crown entered the game 5-0 as the No. 1 team and maintained their top spot with a now 6-0 record. 
  • William Academy, ranked No. 3 with a 2-2 record before the game, holds steady at No. 3 despite the loss, now sitting at 2-3.
