Bill Crothers led 21-10 after the first quarter, with Jacob McGregor’s aggressive play setting the tone, but William Academy’s defense and adjustments kept the game within reach, despite trailing 42-34 at halftime.

William Academy came out from the half with increased energy and focus, gradually erasing Bill Crothers’ lead. The third quarter was pivotal, with Darko’s back-to-back threes and strong defense turning the game in William Academy’s favor. Oliogu and Darko took control, giving their team the lead by the end of the third, up 66-60. Despite early foul trouble, Darko’s versatility and composure under pressure were key. His ability to contribute offensively while playing smart defense helped William Academy sustain momentum in the second half.

In the fourth quarter, William Academy’s free-throw shooting proved crucial, with Oliogu continuing his strong form from the line. He demonstrated his consistency from the charity stripe, having shot 83.3% during his time with Overtime Elite (OTE) and 85.7% for Team Canada at the FIBA U18 AmeriCup 2024. His clutch free throws late in the game helped maintain William Academy’s slim lead. Bill Crothers, led by McGregor’s 29 points, fought back but couldn’t match William Academy’s efficiency down the stretch.

Free throws played a decisive role, with William Academy converting 80% from the line, while Bill Crothers’ struggled with 57%.
