Game of the Week Recap: Post-Game Review

Monday, February 24, 2025

This week’s GOTW action featured two exciting games featuring teams from both the Men’s East and West divisions. Royal Crown started the week off with a dominant win over East Division rival Crestwood Prep, further securing their spot as a No. 1 seed in the standings.

ROYAL CROWN VS CRESTWOOD PREPARATORY COLLEGE

  • Date: Tuesday, February 18th, 2025
  • Division: OSBA Men’s East Division
  • Final Score: Royal Crown 89, Crestwood 73

Royal Crown kicked off the Game of the Week schedule with a commanding 89-73 win over Crestwood Prep. Crestwood got off to a hot start, but was unable to maintain it’s momentum once Crown started consistently getting to the basket. Royal Crown built continued to build a lead into the second half that Crestwood ultimately couldn’t overcome.

Top Performers:

  • Royal Crown: Justus Haseley led all scorers with 28 points, while teammates Cairo Perry and Yann Aphely dropped 19 and 14 points, respectively
  • Crestwood Prep: Christopher Tshibola scored 27 points, while Lana Agbalese added 14 of his own

Team Records & Rankings:

  • Royal Crown: Royal Crown moves to 10-1 after the win and is firmly No. 1 in the East
  • Crestwood Prep: Crestwood falls to 6-5 with the loss and is still ranked No. 2 in the East

Royal Crown is now riding a three-game winning streak, with its offence averaging 81.6 points per game during that span. The team remains ranked No. 1 in the East Division and is firmly a championship favourite as the playoffs approach. Crestwood struggled to maintain consistency on both offence and defence; something that will become crucial in post-season play.

RIDLEY COLLEGE VS WILLIAM ACADEMY

  • Date: Thursday, February 20th, 2025
  • Division: OSBA Men’s East and West Division
  • Final Score: Ridley College 89 William Academy 74

Ridley College closed out the GOTW schedule with a road win over William Academy, which was celebrating Senior Night. Both teams started sluggishly on offence, with William Academyholding a narrow 35-34 lead at halftime. An explosive third quarter from Ridley proved to be the difference, as the Tigers surged ahead 62-53 heading into the fourth. Ridley kept up the pressure, extending its lead to as much as 20 points—a gap William Academy couldn’t overcome.

Top Performers:

  • Ridley College: Caleb Roberts and Quinten Ethier led the way with both players dropping 25 points each, while Griffn Collinson dropped 20 points in support
  • William Academy: Efeosa Oliogu led William scorers with 25 points, while Stephan Fearon and Tristan Darko contributed 11 and 10 points, respectively

Team Records & Rankings:

  • Ridley College: Ridley moves to 9-3 and has a comfortable lead as the No. 1 seed in the West
  • William Academy: William Academy drops to 6-6 and is the No. 3 seed in the East Ridley College now has back-to-back wins after defeating Lincoln Prep 91-81 on Wednesday.

The Tigers are gaining momentum heading into the play-offs and are emerging as a strong contender for a championship run. William Academy had a chance to overtake Crestwood for second place in the division with a win but now faces a tougher path in the play-offs. The Vikings remain a threat to shake things up in the postseason but will need to refine their play to make a deep run.
