MARKHAM, Ont. — The long-awaited OSBA season debut for the Royal Crown Lions couldn’t have gone much better. Facing a battle-tested J. Addison Jaguars squad on their home floor in Tuesday’s OSBA Game of the Week, the Lions announced their intentions loud and clear — they’re here to contend for the East Division crown.
Royal Crown cruised to a 100–71 victory at J. Addison School, powered by stellar performances from Eunicia Salgado and Chance Berry, who finished with 19 points and 27 points respectively to pace a balanced offensive attack.
Royal Crown’s Relentless Start
From the opening tip, Royal Crown dictated the game’s tempo. Their smothering full-court defence immediately disrupted J. Addison’s rhythm, forcing turnovers and keeping standout guard Sienna Papanastasiou-Thomas under constant pressure.
Every possession, the Lions made her work — contesting every shot, trapping on the wings, and cutting off driving lanes. Despite her best efforts, the University of Vermont commit was limited to 9 points in the first half, eventually finishing with 17 on the night.
Meanwhile, Eunicia Salgado dominated the paint, grabbing offensive rebounds and converting on second-chance opportunities. Her 16 first-half points set the tone for Royal Crown’s interior dominance, while her energy and effort helped spark multiple scoring runs.
Depth and Poise Power the Lions
Beyond their stars, Royal Crown showcased impressive depth. Beata Musa made the most of her minutes off the bench, contributing 11 points and key rebounds that extended possessions and frustrated J. Addison’s defence.
It was also a special night for senior-guard Amaya Robinson, who scored 10 points on the same day she officially committed to Duquesne University — a moment that added an extra layer of celebration to Royal Crown’s emphatic win.
Despite the loss, the Jaguars had bright spots of their own. Papanastasiou-Thomas led the way with 17 points, showing flashes of her usual composure under heavy defensive attention, while Sarah Hamzeh chipped in 13 points and provided consistent hustle on both ends.
But the Jaguars couldn’t overcome Royal Crown’s size, speed, and rebounding edge — particularly in the second quarter, where the Lions’ transition play broke the game open.
