When the going gets tough, the tough get going.
That was the story for Miles Hamilton and Cambridge International Academy on Tuesday, October 21st, as they edged Crestwood Preparatory College 114–113 in overtime during the latest instalment of the OSBA Game of the Week. Hamilton scored six of the team’s 10 points in the extra frame, sealing C.I.A.’s first win of the season in dramatic fashion.

With C.I.A. clinging to a one-point lead late in overtime, a turnover on a baseline out-of-bounds play led to four Crestwood players charging down the court in celebration after Isaiah Hamilton’s thunderous slam put them ahead with just 10 seconds remaining.

But the celebration was short-lived. C.I.A. inbounded the ball quickly to point guard Samson Sossou, who drove hard to the rim and missed his layup — only for Miles Hamilton to clean up the glass on the weak side and put it back in for the go-ahead bucket. Crestwood’s full-court heave at the buzzer came up empty, sealing the thrilling finish.

“The coaches ran a play for me… I messed up, got a turnover, let them get that dunk,” Hamilton said after the game. “But my teammates — we practice inbounding the ball fast — we got it in quick, and I was able to get the putback.”

Hamilton had been largely contained during regulation, limited to 12 points in the first half, 22 in the game, and only one trip to the free-throw line during regulation. His teammates kept C.I.A. in it — none more than point guard Samson Sossou.

“Samson, that’s my PG, man,” Hamilton said of the 6-foot guard from Quebec. “He gets into the paint, he finds his guys — I love him, man.”
Crestwood appeared in control late, holding a five-point lead with 31.7 seconds left in regulation. But senior guard Sami Uraz failed to inbound the ball cleanly in his own backcourt, leading to a turnover and an easy lay-in for C.I.A.
Following a timeout, Crestwood turned the ball over again when Kiefer Jansen was called for an illegal screen before the inbound pass with 17.7 seconds remaining, keeping the door open for a Cambridge comeback.
Rather than intentionally fouling to send a C.I.A. player to the line, Crestwood head coach Mike Fraser chose to let his team play straight up — and it backfired.
Kairo Charles inbounded the ball, and after the first two options broke down, the ball swung to Michael Tadjo beyond the three-point line. Tadjo didn’t hesitate — and whether or not he called “glass” didn’t matter. His three-pointer banked in, tying the game and sending it to overtime.
Crestwood’s final possession of regulation also went awry. Dappa Cabziel pressured Uraz into the backcourt and toward Crestwood’s own basket before class of 2028 guard.
Isaiah Eniojukan hustled back for a game-saving block at the buzzer. Isaiah Clarke led Crestwood with 29 points, while Isaiah Hamilton added 27.
