Game of the Week Recap: Post-Game Review

This week’s GOTW action was packed with exciting games across both Men’s divisions. William Academy and Royal Crown stayed atop the Men’s East Division, while Bond Academy won a decisive game to retain their No. 1 ranking in the Trillium Men’s Division.

BILL CROTHERS S.S vs. WILLIAM ACADEMY

  • Date: Tuesday, January 14th, 2025
  • Division: OSBA Men’s East Division
  • Final Score: William Academy 85, Bill Crothers S.S 65 

William Academy had a dominating 85-65 win over Bill Crothers S.S which had an immediate impact on the East Division standings. The victory pushed William Academy above .500 and pass Bill Crothers into second place in the division. In Efeosa Oliogu’s first game after committing to Butler University, he stood out with 21 points in the winning e?orts.

Top Performers:
  • William Academy: Efeosa Oliogu led all players with 21 points, while teammates Keoni Sacco and Tristan Darko contributed 14 and 13 points, respectively.
  • Bill Crothers: Jacob McGregor led Crothers with 18 points, while Bieva Cabant added 10 points.
Team Records & Rankings:
  •  William Academy entered ranked No. 3 in the East with a 3-3 record and left the game 4-3, now ranked No. 2.
  •  Bill Crothers S.S is now ranked No. 3 after the loss with a 4-4 record.

William Academy continues to find their rhythm, with back-to-back wins over Lincoln Prep and now Bill Crothers S.S. Their best players continue to shine on o?ence as the team has scored over 80 points in both of those winning e?orts. The team faces Crestwood Prep before a huge matchup against the No. 1 Royal Crown Lions on January 29th.

Bill Crothers S.S is now ranked No. 3 in the East, has no time to dwell on the loss. The Colts face the No. 1 team in the West Division, Ridley College, in their next game.

LINCOLN PREP VS. ROYAL CROWN

  • Date: Tuesday, January 14th, 2025
  • Division: OSBA Men’s East vs. West Division
  • Final Score: Royal Crown 79, Lincoln Prep 73

Royal Crown continued its undefeated streak with a hard-fought 79-73 victory over Lincoln Prep. Lincoln Prep led at halftime and looked poised for an upset, but Royal Crown’s ability to make in-game adjustments proved to be the deciding factor.

Top Performers:
  • Royal Crown: Xavier Istomin-Monroe led all Crown players with 17 points, while Yann Kouakou-Aphely and Sartaj Bhangu conributed 13 and 12, respectively
  • Lincoln Prep: Owen Frayne was unstoppable, dropping 33 points in a valiant e?ort to keep his team in contention.
Team Records & Rankings:
  • Royal Crown moved to 7-0 and retained its No. 1 spot in the East Division.
  • Lincoln Prep fell to 2-5 but is still ranked No. 4 in the West Division.

Royal Crown, now 7-0 and ranked No. 1 in the East, has maintained its status as a championship favourite and is still on the hunt for a three-peat. Lincoln Prep remains in the top four of the West Division and continues to be a tough matchup despite its 2-5 record.

BOND ACADEMY VS. FULL CIRCLE BASKETBALL ACADEMY (FCBA)

  • Date: Thursday, January 16th, 2025
  • Division: Trillium Men’s East Division
  • Final Score: Bond Academy 110, FCBA 88

In a battle between the two top seeds in the East Division, Bond Academy won in dominating fashion, defeating Full Circle Basketball Academy (FCBA) 110-88. Full Circle had the opportunity to overtake No. 1 in the division with a win, but Bond’s o?ence got out to a hot start and never looked back en route to another victory.

Top Performers:
  • Bond Academy: Jaylon Russleburn contributed 22 points in the winning e?ort, while Jayden Generaux and Marques Dasilva-Romeo added 18 and 17, respectively
  • FCBA: Kenyon St. Louis led all players with 28 points, while Joshua Luzayamo dropped 21 points in support
Team Records & Rankings:
  •  Bond Academy stays at No. 1 in the East with a 12-1 record
  • FCBA drops to 9-3, but maintains their No. 2 spot in the division

Bond Academy’s Marques Dasilva-Romeo reflected on his team’s ability to contain FCBA, saying, “We understood that, especially against a team like that, we can’t give them extra possessions… we were able to take those possessions and get our own back”. 

Bond, now 12-1 and ranked No. 1 in the East, continues to demonstrate why they are such a dangerous team to play against. FCBA, with a 9-3 record, remains a strong play-o? contender despite the loss.
