Ontario Scholastic Basketball Association Accepting Applications from New Teams for Next Season

Interested programs must submit a Letter of Intent by Friday, Feb. 16. Full applications are due by Wednesday, Feb. 28.

Ontario Scholastic Basketball Association (OSBA) is currently accepting applications from new programs for the 2018-19 season.

"OSBA provides sport schools and academies with proper periodized training, development and competition models for high performance student-athletes,” explained Lindsay Walsh, Ontario Basketball's Director of Basketball Development. “We are excited to extend the opportunity for new programs to potentially join the league.”

To receive the Request for Proposals, interested applicants must e-mail the applicable contact, as outlined below.

All programs intending to submit an application must send a Letter of Intent by Friday, February 16. Applications are due on Wednesday, February 28.

The OSBA men’s league has grown from the first season in 2015 with seven teams up to the following 12 teams this season: Athlete Institute Prep (Orangeville), Bill Crothers (Markham), Father Henry Carr (Etobicoke), King’s Christian Collegiate (Oakville), Lincoln Prep (Hamilton), Orangeville Prep (Orangeville), Ridley College (St. Catharines), RISE Prep (Brantford), Southwest Academy (London), Thornlea Secondary School (Thornhill), TRC Academy (Brantford), and Vaughan Secondary School (Vaughan).

The OSBA women’s league expanded from eight teams in its inaugural season last year to the following 10 teams: Bill Crothers (Markham), Caledon Basketball Academy (Caledon), Capital Courts (Ottawa), Durham Elite (Whitby), King’s Christian Collegiate (Oakville), Lincoln Prep (Hamilton), Louis Riel (Ottawa), Southwest Academy (London), TRC Academy (Brantford), and Vaughan Secondary School (Vaughan).

The vision of OSBA is to identify, develop, and support targeted Ontario basketball teams and athletes to achieve the goal of developing Ontario athletes for post-secondary, national, and international competition. In addition, this elite league is increasing the number and quality of Ontario athletes competing in the province at the Train to Compete stage of the Long-Term Athlete Development Model.
