OSBA SEASON PREVIEW: Vaughan S.S Prep (Women)

OSBA PRE-SEASON PREVIEW: VAUGHAN S.S Prep (Women)

The OSBA welcomes a new women’s team to the league this season. Vaughan S.S Prep already has a team playing in the OSBA men’s division, and now is creating an opportunity for women to showcase their talent among the other respected teams in the best prep basketball league in the country.

“We hope to establish ourselves as a hardworking, disciplined and well conditioned team in our inaugural season in the OSBA,” said head coach Handel Kipp. “We see this season as a learning experience but intend to gradually get better as the season moves along. Our players and coaching staff will represent the OSBA in a positive manner both on and off the floor.”

Vaughan S.S Prep is looking forward to taking full advantage of their inaugural season in the OSBA and proving that their first-year roster can compete with the league’s best for years to come. The program’s first-year roster has notable players with proven track records who could potentially have great success in the OSBA for years to come. Four key players that Vaughan S.S has added to their roster include: Class of 2019 Keowa Walters (6’1 C/F) is post player with excellent passing skills and quick feet for her position. Keowa has been playing high school basketball in Florida and was also named an All-Star at the Sylvia Hatchell Elite Girls Basketball Camp at the University of North Carolina. Class of 2019 Tamiya Francis (5’9 PG) is an exceptional point guard who has the ability to run a team and get others involved. Tamiya spent her last season playing at the Tech Academy and this past summer she was selected as an IE Jr. All-American. Class of 2018 Teija Wahid-Warham (5’9 G), also a member of the Tech Academy last season, is an athletic wing who’s proven that she can really score the basketball. Lastly, the Voyageurs welcome class of 2021 guard Tineya Hylton to the program who was an all-star at the Sylvia Hatchell Elite Girls Basketball Camp at the University of North Carolina, as well as an IE Jr. All-American.

With strong intentions of capitalizing on the opportunity to represent the OSBA as well as prove they have the talent to compete, Vaughn S.S Prep has an important year of basketball ahead of them. With a fresh roster of standout players, there is no telling what this program can do this season and for years to come.
